Access The Mileage Tracker

Accessing the Mileage Tracker on your App is as easy as the Receipt Manager, on your home page there will be an icon named 'Mileage Tracker'

Once you have opened the App and accepted location services, the App will automatically log your mileage.

If you are experiencing difficulties with the mileage log please see the 'Settings' section below.

Disabling The Automatic Mileage Tracker

To disable the Mileage Tracker feature in the App, select 'My Settings' in the Mileage Tracker section.

Under 'Mileage Tracker Enabled' set to 'False'.

The App will no longer track your mileage automatically.

Logging A Manual Trip

In the 'Mileage Tracker' section select 'Log Manual Trip'.

Enter the details of your journey, including start and end locations and times.

The odometer readings on your vehicle, the distance will automatically be calculated by the App.

Select if the trip was 'Business' or 'Personal'.

If you need to add a note there is space provided.

Deleting All Trips

We do not advise deleting all your trips. However, if you need to do so then simply press the ‘Delete all Trips’ icon and confirm that you wish to delete all of your journeys that have been logged on the device and to the cloud.

Once you have confirmed the App will notify you that the data has been deleted successfully.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is your responsibility to keep records and you should wherever possible keep receipts/invoices for any expenses which you claim. Any income received in cash should also be recorded. Please ensure that you keep your records for at least five years and ten months after the end of the tax year.

Settings For Your Device For The Mileage Tracker

For the Mileage Tracker please use the checklist of settings below to ensure any devices are configured correctly for automatic mileage tracking.

 

iOS

  • Ensure you have set Location Services to ‘always’ for the App.
  • Enable cellular data (the App uses WiFi, 3G/4G and GPS to determine locations).
  • Enable wifi and keep this active even if not within a known WiFi network.
  • Do not force-quit the App. Leave the App running in the background.
  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the App (enable auto updates where possible).
  • Make sure your device is on the latest operating system (enable auto updated where possible).

Remember, the App is reliant on the quality of data received from your device and associated networks. If either signal is poor or the device is misconfigured / not compatible, the App cannot function as expected.

 

Android

Android can vary due to the vast differences in phone models and operating systems however broadly speaking, the majority have similar settings although they can have slightly different terminology.

  • Enable Location Services and set to ‘High Accuracy’ for this App.
  • Disable power saving settings completely, or for this particular App.
  • Enable cellular data (the App uses WiFi, 3G/4G and GPS to determine locations).
  • Enable wifi and keep this active even if not within a known WiFi network.
  • Do not force-quit the App. Leave the App running in the background.
  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the App (enable auto updates where possible).
  • Make sure your device is on the latest operating system (enable auto updated where possible).

Certain Android devices also feature ‘Protected Apps’ which is a known battery saving technique. Ensure that this App is set as a protected App in order to get increased accuracy and tracking performance. This is common on particular manufacturers such as Huawei.
